Josephine lost her father to HIV/AIDS at a very young age, and by the time she was 8, her mother had also passed away. Left to care for herself and her 4-year-old sister, Winnie, the two girls were forced to work on a tea plantation—spending long hours carrying heavy baskets with little to no food or rest.
When their heartbreaking situation was brought to the attention of HOU, both girls were taken in, weak and in poor health.
Today, Josephine and Winnie are thriving. Josephine is a joyful, resilient young woman with a passion for cooking and a dream of becoming a professional chef. Her journey is a powerful reminder of how love and care can transform a life.
