Discipleship Through Sports
Sports is a powerful tool for character formation, teamwork, and spiritual growth. At HOU, we integrate sports into our discipleship model to help children grow not only physically but emotionally and spiritually.
Games like football, netball, and athletics are more than recreation—they’re platforms for teaching discipline, perseverance, and godly character.
We use team sports to reinforce biblical values such as humility, respect, integrity, and unity. Children learn how to work together, handle conflict, and lead with grace. Coaches and mentors serve as role models, guiding them through prayer before and after games, and using sports metaphors to explain spiritual truths in ways that children understand and remember.
Sports also provide opportunities for outreach and evangelism. Through inter-school competitions and community tournaments, our children learn to share the love of Christ with others. Many have found confidence, healing, and new purpose on the playing field, where they discover their worth and potential. Sports for us is ministry—it brings joy, healing, and transformation.
