About Hope for Orphans Uganda (HOU)
Hope for Orphans Uganda (HOU) is a Christian, faith-driven organization dedicated to supporting Uganda’s most vulnerable children and youth. We provide holistic care—including shelter, education, medical attention, and spiritual nurturing—grounded in the love and teachings of Jesus Christ.
Founded on principles of love, compassion, and servant leadership, we are committed to transforming lives, restoring hope, and building strong, Christ-centered communities. We believe that every child deserves not only to survive, but to thrive in a loving family environment.
We are a registered NGO in Uganda (Reg. No. S. 5914/4759) and a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in the United States (E.I.D. 81-5167717).
Guided by Faith, Driven by Love

Our daily work flows from the heart of God’s call to “care for orphans and widows in their distress” (James 1:27). With every meal served, every lesson taught, and every prayer lifted, we strive to reflect the grace and compassion of Christ. From our school and medical clinic to our discipleship programs and home life, faith is not just an addition—it is the foundation.

Founder's Story
Hope for Orphans Uganda was found by Teddy Namugenyi. Teddy was born in Uganda in 1988 to a single mother who struggled to raise Teddy and her four other children. At age four Teddy was given to her father’s custody, but was rejected and abused by her step mother and ignored by her father for several years before returning to her mother.

Mission
To feed, clothe, shelter, and educate these children. We equip them with life skills and leadership development to transition into adulthood and become leaders in their communities. We provide a sense of belonging and community through creating a loving family environment.
